It’s a terrible sign when an employee shows up on day one and the company is not ready for you

I started a job where the onboarding person was laid off the first week I was there. It didn’t get better 🤣

I had to put my own computer together my first day. Nothing was set up for me and their reasoning behind it was goofy.

No one onboarded me! My manager just assigned random staff and those that got assigned never trained me at all! So sad but true! ~ Canadian employee

Spent my first week onboarding at home. Literally had to figure things out on my own. First week in office I was introduced and that was it. Almost four months in and I have yet to sit down with my boss and discuss things. My other boss lives in another state and I didn’t speak to her until I was there two months.

Just transferred jobs and the manager thought my first day was a whole week later. My previous manger discussed my transfer date with them and emailed the date as well but when I started they looked lost. It was an unsettling feeling. Probably won’t keep working there for long. They have high turnover too.

I have had new employees bring their spouses/partner to onboard and train. Really? 😂 Some have brought a parent. We are doomed

As a manager after I first started, I had a meeting setting expectations and goals for our department, and I was pulling in the office and said it was too aggressive. That’s a dumpster fire in itself.

onboarding and training doesn’t exist anymore though bc companies pay to bring people to figure out everything they’ve caused

I remember the lead who left a month after I came said to me “where trying to nail down our training process.” I was out with several different people who should me several different things. The training seemed to be just thrown together. The workers who were the longest meaning over 10 years were some of the most toxic, manipulative people I have ever seen. One the few former jobs that gave me anxiety
