The general rule is arrive 2hrs before BOARDING time! Not takeoff time 😂 and that’s mostly for large airports. Smaller airports are easier.

I was in Heathrow and thought I was waiting for my gate. I realized I was not in the correct place a really nice person working helped me. And I heard my name. I bolted to the gate! I was a huffing and puffing and so embarrassed and I got on! 😭😭😭 I was mortified. I almost cried of embarrassment. I was soo out of breath! All my own fault! They were so nice!

The one time I lost my plane, the airline employee at the gate saw me on the verge of crying (I was on my last leg of a 24hr trip back home). He put me on the next flight, free of cost, gave me a meal voucher, and he even looked after my luggage while I went to the restroom to change clothes. I was stinky, tired, down with the flu AND back pain after flying for 20 hrs at that point. He SAW me, and his kindness was EVERYTHING. They can do things for you, you really just need to be a decent person.

I get anxiety if we’re not in our gate 2 hours before boarding. I’d rather wait and be comfy, I need time to get our food, my coffee, and bathroom before boarding.
