I drive a Ram 2500 Powerwagon, it's a big truck and I'm a small person. I get alot of strange looks from men. As I got out one day running errands a man said to me how nice my husband was to lend me his truck. To which I replied, there is no husband, and he looked almost disgusted. There are no end to the assumptions!

Lol! I asked my husband if he could come and pick me up after work because it was already getting dark and I was on a bicycle and he came but he said “ I hope you know this is your birthday present”. Men Ive had high regard for have let me down again , again again . I dont want to depend on a man for anything anymore. The cost is too high.

I recently bought a house for myself and my daughters, as a single woman, 8 years post divorce. More than one male contractor I’ve met with for estimates on home repairs has asked me, “Where’s your husband?” My response has been, “I’m the decision-maker you need to focus on.”

This reminds me of when I went to a comedy show alone intentionally. I was sat at a table with a straight older couple and the man approached the table and told me “why are you alone? Are you okay?” I looked at him & said nothing. They were immediately uncomfortable. 😊

But they operate on the old construction and system though. It's like an old computer. It only has the old capabilities and will never handle new software installed into it. I would have said "In the great words of Cher, who needs a man. I AM THE MAN!" and walked away. 🤣

if I see a lady alone, carrying a big bag of groceries, my first thought is to move away in respect and let her pass, she doesn't need my help if she doesn't ask, and saying anything other than "good day to you" is bothering her when she obviously doesn't want that...

My first impulse would be to ask you if you wanted help. Many years ago I was at the grocery store. A mom with three under 3 years of age was struggling during check out. She was in tears and handed me her baby. I walked her out and loaded her groceries. This was well before I became a parent. I see struggle and I generally offer. Never do I act without consent. We need one another.

Unfortunately, I feel that the majority of men fall under this category of lack of self reflection or even awareness! Yet, I don’t think that same couple would say the same to a man… they’d probably comment how strong he is! 😞
