Being a stay-at-home mom was always something I dreamed of. But when I finally stepped into that role, I found out real quick that its not always rainbows and butterflies. I was blindsided by so many things I never anticipated. Isolation. Repetition. Overstimulation and understimulation happening at the same time. Feeling unaccomplished. I watched my husband walk out the door every day to a job where he’s successful. Where he has adult conversations, a quiet office, and can take a bathroom break alone—without little hands under the door or screaming on the other side. And, if I’m being honest, I felt resentful. I kept a running tally of every sacrifice I was making to fulfill our mutual dream of me staying home with the kids. What I wasn’t doing was acknowledging everything he was giving up or the burdens he carried so I didn't have to. I wasn't thinking about the weight of providing for our family, the stress of everything he was responsible for at work, the pressure of our entire family being completely dependent on him succeeding. Yes, I have hard days. But most of my days are filled with laughter, love, and exploration. I get to spend every single day with my favorite people in the whole world. I get to witness every first, every milestone, every tiny moment that passes too quickly. And I only get to do that because of him. I could never fully repay him for giving me the privilege of staying home with our babies, but I’ll spend the rest of our lives trying. ❤️ #momlife #stayathomemom #SAHM
