I remember tweeting J crew a year or two ago asking if they would open a store and they responded with “yeah we have no plans to open a store in Vegas. 🤷🏻♂️” and I was like “wow”

Vegas doesn’t really have culture and with that comes the lack of diverse shopping options i feel. Plus most locals won’t pay for the parking where most of the retailers we want would actually set up shop. I think we need spaces more like the Grove or Americana and then we might get more diverse shopping and even dining options (town scary and Tivoli don’t count because those are dead malls stuck in a Cheesecake Factory aesthetic).

We talk about this being an issue and also not a lot of mid grade food spots. Everything’s fast food or expensive asf like why is a local sandwich or coffee shop a $50 lunch for 2 ppl

It’s because most of our shopping is geared toward tourists. Like to hell with the people who actually live here I guess smh. I think this is actually one of the main things I miss about living in Los Angeles and why I looooove going to New York so much

For some reason historically non gaming related companies have a hard time pulling the trigger and opening here . I remember moving here in the early 90s and it was so rapidly growing and transient that all this town screamed for was an IKEA. They first said we won't go unless its a million people. we hit that rather quickly in 1994 and Ikea still didn't open until 2016....they left so much money on the table those years. Mid range solid clothing boutiques have the same warped thought process nit thinking there is a market...they overlook us. I'm sick of shopping at Macy's, Dillards and Nordstroms
