here in finland the government is cutting EVERYTHING including health care, education, government staff, social security etc but the one thing they wont touch? pensions. because "they worked hard their whole life they deserve it." so the rest of us dont??

You know whats even worse. Old people in Europe are the richest age class they have the most in savings and most of them paid off their own home already. Like live off your savings first before taxing us

This is what is killing the UK. Our Pension isn't even means tested... and it is guaranteed to increase ever year by law. Campaigning on ending the Triple Lock pension is political suicide because of it.

a law was conceptualised in england recently that could ask old people over 70 to take eye sight/cognitive tests every 3 years to maintain their driving licenses and the boomers are FURIOUS about it… literally willing to compromise the safety of everyone else just to ensure that pensioners aren’t inconvenienced every once in a blue moon

Dad can retire now at an age of 62, but hold out until 65+ for a really good bonus. I am guaranteed to retire the earliest at my 70s with todays laws and no bonus to hold out longer 🙂 Really makes one motivated at 25

Yes. (German baby boomer here) However, that is only one aspect of the issue. Another problem – and in my view a much bigger one – is the tax-subsidised redistribution of money from the workforce to the owners of platforms, wealth and automated systems (such as AI). In other words: there is enough money around, but it is in the wrong hands and therefore remains unproductive.
