I’m really grateful for the people who have shown up for me during this season and throughout this journey. My parents, my psychiatrist and psychologist who supported me through my medical leave, and my current therapist, who has supported me through my layoff season. ❤️ Asking for financial help was hard for me. I was used to handling things on my own, and I was honestly scared to have that conversation. My therapist encouraged me to talk to my parents, and I’m so grateful I did. I had savings, but eventually they ran out. And I had to be honest with myself: I couldn’t do everything on my own. I had to allow the people who were willing and able to support me to actually support me. And that’s something I’m learning in this season: it’s okay to receive support. But I also know that not everyone has family who can step in financially. Not everyone has a friend who can cover a bill or help with rent. And that’s okay too. Do what you can. Look into government assistance, community programs, financial hardship programs, and whatever resources are available to you. You may have to ask a few questions, make a few calls, or fill out a few applications, but use the support that’s available to you. Sometimes you just have to open your mouth and say, “I need help.” Let people know what you need, and don’t be afraid to explore every option available to you. ❤️ I’m grateful I didn’t have to figure this season out alone. #MentalHealth #layoff #askingforhelp #wellnessjourney #mentalhealthtok
