My husband is transgender (FTM), I will tear a funeral home up if my in-laws even suggest I put him in a dress or up his deadname on the obituary. All of his legal documents had his chosen name and gender. We made sure to put it all in writing.

So my wife doesn’t like the idea of a green burial even tho I bought the plot before we met. Can I put my son in charge because he knows what I want?

@Freddie L. Adams: Question. What paperwork do you suggest?? I personally feel “Putting it in writing” isn’t enough alone. What specific document would prevent this? I’m genuinely curious. I’ve seen documents that direct disposition…. Burial versus cremation… I’ve seen documents to direct where a person wants to be buried… but I haven’t come across a document that would have given someone other than the legal next of kin, the direct authority to do what they think the decedent would’ve wanted…. While do I think this person should have been buried the way they lived, I’m not sure as to what document could’ve prevented this.. please share

Where did the mom didn't lie? She accepted money to help pay the funeral expenses. Who wouldn't in that time and kind of need. Donating funds does not give you any rights on how the funeral should be.
