Capitalism killed romance. A man was enough to provide for her family of 3 to 5 and still have decent life. Now even if 2 parents are working, plus when their kids comes to age still not enough. It wasn't the Romcom, people stop watching it bc it felt like watching a nightmare in horror movie.
