Because if you cannot support legitimate business expenses with proper documentation, you may struggle to claim those expenses when preparing your accounts and tax computations. That can increase your taxable profit and, in turn, the amount of tax you owe. A receipt today could save you money tomorrow. Good record-keeping isn't just for accountants. It's a business strategy. If you genuinely cannot obtain a receipt, don't just walk away empty-handed. Create a simple Payment Acknowledgement Sheet (or Honor Sheet). Let the recipient write and sign: Full Name Phone Number Ghana Card Number (or other ID) Amount Received Purpose of the Payment Date Signature or Thumbprint If possible, attach supporting evidence such as: A photo of the transaction Mobile money confirmation Bank transfer advice Witness signature (where appropriate)
