the cape and claw are both Vincent's, Nomura wasn't allowed to put Vincent in KH1 because he was too scary for the younger audience it was targeting, so he gave Vincent's items to cloud. The wing is also to represent that fact that he's missing half of himself because Sephiroth and Cloud are two parts of the same heart and Sephiroth is his heartless in KH.

they had cloud designs liked this because vincent was originally supposed to be in kh as well but for some reason couldn’t so nomura decided to insure clouds new design based off of vincents

He looked like that in KH1 cause the original plan WAS for that to be Vincent. Also Wakka was going to be Irvine from ff8 and Yuffie was going to be Rikku from 10

the reason cloud feels like a vincent design is because it was originally supposed to be vincent in the game, they changed it last minute and basically just copy pasted the design elements, as well as the slightly edgier attitude of cloud is a carryover from that as well

if I remember correctly, cloud was never even supposed to be in KH1. it in fact was supposed to be Vincent Valentine. but they changed it because cloud is bigger, that's why cloud looks like. Vincent

I imagine the sword is wrapped to make it appear dull,so when you get the key blade based off of it they can also use the wraps so Sora isn't just using a big sword.

i think the wing is suppose to represent the opposite side of Sephiroth. I think the wing on Sephiroth is on the otherside.

The cloak and wing are too much. but the banaged sword is cool, could be symbolism for his injured mental state, once they go he is healed and acts like the real cloud
