We have a love hate relationship with them…. They have opposable thumbs so anything we build to be animal proof is not raccoon proof. 😂

If it makes you feel any better, I’ve lived in Canada my entire life and have never seen a raccoon. The country is so big that certain animals and birds are only found in certain parts of the country. For example, magpies in the western part of Canada and grackles in the eastern part of Canada. I didn’t even realize that magpies weren’t found in the east until my brother’s in laws mentioned it during a visit.

They’re cute until they’re breaking my compost bin at 4am scaring the living hell out of me and leaving behind an absolute massacre of discarded food bits. And I have to protect myself with a garbage can lid and a broom to shew them off.

The Toronto area also has massive raccoons as well! Where there is an over abundance of food equals big raccoons.
