1-we always take thank you notes. Some for the butlers, and extras in case we have cabana butlers, and other staff that go out of their way to 2-I plan tips ahead of time to make sure we have the minimum for tips. 3-skycaps, drivers, butlers, excursions, spa staff etc…. Then we take extra $ just in case. 4-yes you can pay tips at checkout, we just never do. (We have heard they prefer cash not on cc). 5-when we first meet the butlers, I will ask “when will be the last day we will see you during our stay”. When we know the last day we will see them, we can personally give them the thank you card with the tip $.

Love your advice about the note! and I would add that you can distribute your butler tips however you like, at checkout. Some butlers go above and beyond to make your experience wonderful. Don’t feel like it needs to be split evenly amongst them.

While tipping isn’t required, always always bring lots of cash to tip at all inclusives. Any good travel agent will tell you this. We tip everyone who provides us service. They are often very poor, they live in dorm type environments, and sometimes their family live on other islands. Even it’s just leaving $3 on the table at each meal they really need it. Most tip

we do half up front and half at check out. When we give the first half we let them know we were told if you’re going to til well, tip up front so here is half now

Do you have the same butler the whole time of your stay? So if you tip at the end, the butler will still be there a week later to receive the cash? I’m thinking about shift changes and if you have a new butler.

Each butler at the end of your stay they prefer bills no larger than a 20 because they have a hard time using them outside of the resort, usually tip out butlers 200 each but we have had one really excellent butler and 1 not that good so one got more than the other

Remember You are tipping per shift. Although we almost always have 3 butlers, they rotated and we generally had 2 per day with the other one off. I have also been told they much prefer cash to leaving it on your credit card. Crisp bills are also preferred.
