@melody.iz.music: If you don't get it when racism was "larger" (before a lot of the movements) 3b-4c hair was considered messy, ugly, unkempt, and wool-like, so it was common for black societies to feel pressured into straightening their hair and were constantly oppressing their black heritage because they believed it was "bad", later in the 1960s and 70's driven by the civil rights movement, the Black Power movement, and the "Black is Beautiful" campaign the black society began rejecting the beauty standards that had pushed them to chemically straighten or altar their hair, and instead began to wear their natural hair as a way to symbolize their freedom and a way to protest against racism.#blacklivesmatter #blackisbeautiful #antiracism #freedom #equality
