this song is beautiful. definitely worth a listen to. | SONG: dont cry - @ohsospastic | TAGS: #thesummerhikarudied #tshd #tshdedit #edit @pukeclips @bfm.ae @bleemuxx @abnegat.e @shampooo_._ @hysteria20k | -long description/rant again- i dont really know if tiktok actually boosted my last video because of the longer description or if it was just one of those random uploads that the algorithm decided to bless. maybe it helped, maybe it didnt, i genuinely have no idea. but im not gonna pass up the opportunity to express myself. a lot of people on my latest edit were saying the exact same things id written about before, and i tried replying to as many people as i could. i genuinely think that as long as you enjoy what youre making, theres nothing to be ashamed of. make what you like, improve at your own pace and dont compare yourself too much. unless youre a polyster god. other than that, being an editor on tiktok doesnt really lead to much by itself. for me this has always just been a way of learning. in the future i wanna create things for people, work on bigger projects, express my creativity through other peoples ideas and help bring them to life. thats always been the goal. when i started this account i honestly didnt expect it to get anywhere close to where it is now. i wasnt chasing followers or millions of views, i just wanted somewhere to post the new techniques id learnt and keep getting better with every edit. im still learning now, and i probably will be for a long time. hopefully one day ill have a portfolio full of work im genuinely proud of and can look back at all these edits as the reason i got there. it was only recently that i realised id actually built up a pretty decent following, but at the same time i also realised followers barely even matter on tiktok. the real thing deciding whether your video does well is the algorithm. or paying for views. im kidding... mostly. the way it works is honestly kinda brutal. your video gets shown to a small group of people first, and if enough of them scroll away or just arent interested, the algorithm pretty much decides "not worth it" and stops pushing it. its kinda crazy when you think about it. you can spend 20 hours making something, then a bunch of people decide in literally the first second whether its worth watching, and thats enough for the algorithm to make up its mind. obviously theres more to it than that, but sometimes it really does feel like your edit lives or dies in the first few moments. my most popular edit was actually a repost. the first time i posted it, it got like 45 likes and 3 comments. i thought that was it, figured people just didnt really care for it and moved on. then i reposted the exact same edit the next day and somehow it ended up hitting around a million views. same edit, same account, same everything, just a different day. thats the edit that also inspired a bunch of people to start using the sukuna slash effect i made in their own edits, which is honestly one of the coolest things thats happened from my own editing journey. after that i had a few edits blow up back to back and thats where most of my followers came from. but the funny thing is, around 90% of the people watching my edits still dont even follow me. thats why i dont really care about follower count as much anymore. tiktok doesnt really push your videos to your followers first, it just throws them at random people and hopes they interact with it. ive always found that kinda weird because you'd think your own followers would be the first people to actually see what you post, but thats just not really how the app works. anyways thats all i want to talk about, stream 'dont cry' on spotify. beautiful song. and if you skipped down here leave a comment about a big fat boy named ben. - @sunkenfroggo
