My 2 & 4 year old sleep with me and my husband (we’re 4 to a bed) I tell him to enjoy it because they’re little and won’t want to sleep with us forever, I say this knowing damn well I slept with my mom till I was 17 but he doesn’t need to know that.

I slept with my mom every night until I was 20. I wasn’t afraid of sleeping by myself, I just liked sleeping with her. I’m glad I did because the only way for us to be together is when I’m dreaming. I just loved her, I wasn’t afraid of the dark.

You felt unsafe without your mom there and so you empathized with the animal being alone. Could be some early childhood trauma or neurological condition attached to that.

My 4 year old sleeps with me, I stopped fighting it when she asked why me and daddy get to sleep together and she has to sleep alone. I guess I’ll miss it when she’s older 😂

I slept on couches or floors (my whole childhood and teen years) anywhere but my own room and bed.. at night that room was just to scary even as an adult..

If found my people 💝 slept in my mom's bed until I was 7 (when she left) and then transitioned to my dad's bed until I was 15. Still periodically go visit and sleep curled up on his feet. I hope my daughter is the same way 💝

As a mother you have to protect some of your own space. For me that was my bed.

this is so sweet. 1) that you were able to sleep with your mom for so long. what an act of live (and desperation, I'm sure). and 2) the only thing that overcame your worries was taking care of another. you have a lot of love to give.
