Genuine question here. My relationship with my parents has currently become strained and I feel like i’ve been steadily outgrowing them. In the future, I plan on ghosting them. But in the back of my mind I’m afraid that by doing that, I’d be making a huge mistake. I don’t mean to vent or anything, but I just want to know before I actually commit; is ghosting my parents truly a good idea?

and realizing that at the end of the day while a lot of your issues may have been caused by them, they are no longer responsible and it doesn't help anyone (especially yourself) to hold resentment towards them.

this truly is the unfortunate reality that some people would have to accept :/ it’s damning yes, but it WILL torment you if you’re so hyper focused on achieving whatever ideal relationship you want with your parents that is likely never going to happen because of their ignorance and ego

Ive always hated my parents. Thankfully now I rent my own apartment and paying off my car, I provide for myself and purposely ghost/ignore them, they offer nothing at this point

as a kid you definitely know if you’ll be a no contact adult. i remember thinking how i couldn’t wait to one day get away from and never talk to these people again. of course you still want their love, but eventually you stop expecting it to save yourself from disappointment. you have yourself and the gift of life, we must make the best of it.
