I tore my ACL senior year and I went down. Couldnโt get up on my own. My coach never asked if I was okay. Only said โget her off my courtโ. Those words were on repeat for the longest time. I was shattered.

I tried volleyball in middle school and one game I was sitting all the way on the opposite end of the long ass row of chairs from our coach. Ig she had tried to call my name at one point but I couldnt hear her and the next thing I know shes yelling my name and saying that since im not gonna listen to her I wont be playing. I didnt get put in once and that was one of the very few games my mom had time to come see ๐

My sister played volleyball middle school to senior year only to be benched by the new coach because she missed 1 day of practice due to a family vacation we had already informed her of at the beginning of the yearโฆshe played 2/8 games while being one of only THREE seniors on the team

The difference being in a team where the coach likes you and wants to see you thrive vs a coach who doesnโt and doesnโt give a flying crap about you is astronomical. When I played softball growing up for 3 years I was on a team where the coachs daughter didnโt like me and didnโt think I was โcoolโ so the coachs daughter didnโt pay any attention to me only her friends and the next 2 years I got on teams where the coaches payed attention to me and helped me and I significantly improved in just a year and ended up getting on all stars. Then I tried basketball for two years and those coaches helped me so much and wanted to see me improve that I won both my championships. I ended up being top selection going forward even over some of the coaches own daughters for basketball and didnโt care for softball anymore because I was treated so much better from the beginning in a sport I knew nothing about.
