I screamed when they told Mrs Cooper her husband was dead. I was about the same age as Sheldon when my dad passed suddenly. That part of the show took me RIGHT BACK to when I was called to the principal’s office when they told me my dad was dead. I’d seen him just 3 hours before that when he dropped me off at the bus stop; HOW was he DEAD? I thought it was a prank by some classmates. It wasn’t; he was only 41 and I was 17. I’d never been to a funeral before then. I HOWLED at the end of that show and felt the same feelings as I did over 30 years ago.

I gave a eulogy at my mother’s funeral and my dad’s. This strikes closer to home than it will to some. They are actors, do it in real life, it honors but it leaves a scar. I cherish that scar.
