Not trying to be rude, but if they’re able to spend hours walking around Orchard, Chinatown, queuing for free gifts or discounted items, surely they can stand for a short train ride too. If you genuinely need a seat, just ask politely. Most people would be happy to give it up. There’s no need to scold, kick someone, or shame them on social media. I say this because I’ve experienced it myself. I was sitting in the middle seat when a middle-aged aunty kept kicking my leg to get my attention instead of asking. She did it several times. In the end, I stood up and offered my seat to someone else, then told her, “You can ask, but please don’t kick people.”

Maybe one day the government should consider removing these seats that have been causing unnecessary scenes. Don't forge that in the public there are always people who are unhealthy with serious illness that they also needed to sit down and rest but they look fine on the outside and being judged by people saying not giving up the seats to those who needs it more. who to decide who really need it more? sigh. when I have cancer back then with weak body, this is how I feel when being asked to give up the seat. should I confront back say I am sick? do they care? 😇🫣

I experienced this first hand after my knee surgery when I'm learning how to walk again. I still had bandages and my knee brace on with my mother holding my crutches beside me and this uncle just stared at me and said and i quote, "You're not old." Followed by him pointing at the sign which got me really upset and I had to point to my very obvious stretched out, bandaged leg with the leg brace on to keep him quiet. It didn't stop there, he talked to his friend beside him in hokkien about how i was being rude and that I have no respect for old people let alone have consideration for them like bruhh
