I hate wrist pain — who doesn’t? In this video, I’m sharing a few strategies to deal with it once and for all. I grouped them into three categories: 1. Prevention - how to prevent wrist pain ever happening 2. Correction - how to deal with wrist pain if you already have it 3. Temporary - how to still do exercises even with wrist pain Prevention: 1. No matter what exercise you’re doing, there’s always an optimal position for your hands and body. For example, during push-ups, make sure the pressure is distributed evenly across your palms, rather than on the outer edge of your hands. Correct position is: a) externally rotate shoulders b) rotate hand outwards by 15 degrees c) slightly spread fingers d) make sure your palm is in full contact with the floor e) dig into the floor using your finger pads f) slightly pinch thumb towards index finger 2. Second, manage your training load. Don’t do push-ups every day — give your muscles and connective tissue time to recover. 3. Third, always warm up your wrists before any workout. Just a few minutes can make a huge difference. Correction: 1. Start by stretching tight muscles, both extensors and flexors. You can include this in your warm-up or as a separate stretching routine. a) Wrist Flextion b) Wrist Extension c) Wrist Circles d) Wrist deviations 2. Next, strengthen your forearms through these six main movements: a) Pronation – rotating your hand downward b) Supination – rotating your hand upward c) Flexion – bringing your palm toward your forearm d) Extension – bringing the back of your hand toward your forearm e) Radial deviation – bending your wrist toward the thumb side f) Ulnar deviation – bending your wrist toward the pinky side It doesn’t matter if you use a dumbbell, barbell, or band — as long as you strengthen all directions, it will help. 3. Lastly, fix your posture and shoulder alignment. Poor scapular or shoulder mechanics can cause wrist pain over time. Include these corrective moves: a) Wall slides for serratus anterior b) Face pulls for rear delts c) Prone YTWs for scapular control d) Thread the Needle for thoracic mobility e) Internal and External rotations These three strategies — prevention, correction, and shoulder alignment — should help relieve wrist pain long-term. Temporary: If you still want to train while dealing with wrist pain, you can modify your exercises: 1. Do push-ups on your knuckles 2. Use a towel under your palms 3. Train with parallettes or rings to keep your wrists neutral #WristPain #WristPainRelief #Calisthenics #MobilityTraining #ForearmStrength
