Taika got into trouble in NZ a handful of years ago for pointing out that NZ has issues with racism and domestic violence. people were slamming him not because it wasnt true but because he was a traitor for saying it out loud – I wrote an essay about it just for fun because it's something I think about all the time. it's really interesting that he has to walk on such an insane tightrope
