@imellagonzales: please don’t fall for the prestige trap i think one of the hardest parts about being ambitious is realizing that not every impressive goal is actually yours for so long, I measured whether I was doing well by the grades I got, the internships I landed, the companies on my resume, and whether the next step looked successful to everyone around me and none of those things are bad. working hard opened so many doors for me and helped me learn a lot about myself. but I do think I spent more time thinking about how it would feel to achieve certain goals than what my actual day-to-day life would look like once I did your environment has such a huge influence on what you believe is possible and what you think you should want. when everyone around you is chasing the same path, it can be really hard to step outside of it and ask whether it still makes sense for you you are allowed to change your mind as you learn more about yourself. the original goal was not a mistake just because you eventually choose something different I think we all need to ask ourselves more often: do I actually want the life attached to this goal, or do I just want the validation of achieving it? i’ll be sharing more about building a career and life that actually feels like mine - follow if you’re figuring that out too :) #computerscience #bigtech #internship #student
