I was in banking for over 12 years and never once did we call the police on someone trying to deposit a fraudulent check because after questions we determined they were being scammed and we treated them with respect and explained everything to them and did not treat them like they were idiots.

This happened to me in college. My first semester i applied online and they sent me a check and when i went to deposit it the bank teller told me “no, this a scam” 😅 lesson learned.

He shouldn’t speak to her this way. She was scammed & is the victim. When I worked at a bank this happened to a customer 40yr old school teacher. He thought he was being hired for a tutoring job and they were paying him upfront for the year smh. Idk how these scammers do it but it’s sad.

I had this exact situation happen to me. Signed up for online job, sent me a $2000 check for equipment and told me to deposit in my account. However I'm not that stupid and didn't do it. When I didn't do it, they sent me another check for $2500. No company is going to do that.
