When Shayṭān can’t pull you into sin, he tries to corrupt your worship. There comes a point where Shayṭān realizes that obvious sins may no longer be his easiest path to you. So he changes his strategy. Instead of pulling you away from ṣalāh, he distracts you inside your ṣalāh. Instead of stopping your Qur’an, he fills your heart with whispers. He makes you question your intentions, your sincerity, and whether your deeds are even accepted. And if that doesn’t work, he tries something even more subtle. He begins to make you admire your own worship. He reminds you of how much you pray, how much Qur’an you recite, and how much you avoid sin, until your heart slowly begins to feel entitled. “After everything I’ve done, why hasn’t Allah answered my du’a?” SubḥānAllah. We can forget that every act of worship we perform is only by Allah’s mercy and guidance. None of us is owed anything because of our deeds. The moment we begin to feel entitled, arrogance can quietly creep into the heart. That is why we shouldn’t only ask Allah to increase our worship. We should ask Him to protect our īmān, preserve our sincerity, keep us safe from riyaa’, self-admiration, arrogance, and every whisper that could steal the reward of our deeds. May Allah keep our hearts firm upon His religion, accept our worship, and make every deed sincerely for His sake alone. Āmīn. Don’t only ask Allah to increase your worship. Ask Him to protect it.
