Wait Wdum u can’t bring ur cat over in winter or something ?? I’m so confused. And I’d be so worried bringing my cats to countries overseas because bringing them back in Australia is always so complicated. Like I got this beautiful kitten it Turkey and I can’t bring her home because turkey is not rabies free so the kitten has to stay in another country for like 180 days or some shit and that’s just not obtainable for me especially because I’m not easily able to go to like half the world due to my cco 😂😭 It’s okay my grandma is looking after her in Turkey. It’s not easy for her to travel to Australia either because it’s such a long flight and we can’t afford business class and since she’s old she has to do all these medical examinations to come here. It’s so annoying how they make it so difficult for people AND animals to travel from certain countries to Australia. I get why they do it, to protect our people and biodiversity. But still. It’s just so sad 😭😭 So be careful. I’m sure Puerto Rico is fine but just double check the rules on bringing animals back from there because Puerto Rico does have rabies just like turkey but I think because they are technically part of the USA they have some agreement with Australia that makes it slightly easier but it will still probably be a pain in the ass. Like I think the cat can do the 180 days in Puerto Rico but in Turkey since they don’t have the same relationship with the vets it has to be in another country. And even tho ur cats are from Australia it doesn’t even matter because once a cat leaves Australia it immediately loses its Australian health status and it’s treated like a completely new cat if u decide to come back. So I guess if ur planning to stay there forever it doesn’t really matter but if not it does. So just be super careful, that’s all. It’s all just such bullshit 😭😭
