If you’re doing row after row of knitting this is what you’ll get - it’s called garter stitch. You need to alternate a row of knit stitches with a row of purl stitches to get the ‘v’ shapes that you get in stockinette

Have you been purling? I think that happens when you knit on both sides and not knit on one side and purl on the other

you have to knit 1 row, purl the next. that's garter stitch of just knitting all rows.

because what you're trying to achieve is a stockinette stitch, basically you knit one row and then purl the other when you turn the work and after a while you are going to se the v on the knit side :) hope i explained well

Because you’re knitting FLAT and only doing KNIT ST this creates GARTER ST. When knitting flat if you knit one side and purl the other you will got the STOCKINETTE you’re looking for.

This is garter stitch! Right side is knit, wrong side is also knit. It creates the bumps on each side. If you want stockinette stitch (flat v’s) then you knit on the right side and purl back across the wrong side. (If you’re just doing a swatch you can pick whatever side you want to be right and wrong, just keep it consistent)

you're knitting on both sides when you're supposed to be purpling also you're twisting your stitches by knitting from the front left you're supposed to insert your needle from the back right

:) the fabric you're creating is called garter stitch. one row is knit, one row is purl. when you pull you can see the v's. but what you're mostly seeing are purl bumps.

Garter stitch is knitting each side, in order to create the “v” shape you need to alternate knit and purls which creates the v shape. This will also have a right and wrong side where the garter stitch is double sided. Knowing the right and wrong can also tell you whether to knit or purl if you forget!

You’re doing knit stitches on both the right and wrong side. The wrong side of a knit stitch is a purl, so you’re ending up with alternating knit and purl rows on both sides = garter stitch. If you designate a right and wrong side and only knit the right side, only purl the wrong, then you’ll get the stockinette stitch you’re looking for

You need to alternate your knit and purl rows for stockinette (stocking stitch) my friend. So knit a row, then purl a row, then knit another etc.

If you do knit stitches only that’s called garter stitch. K one row, then purl one row-that’s stockinette and will look like Vs. Here’s the fun part- using a circular needle and knitting in the round will give you stockinette by just knitting. I crochet too. Knitting is harder but endless stitches and technique to learn!!
