@opallauryn: Privacy is important and healthy, secrets can rot a relationship from the inside out and create two different realities. #cheating #infidelity #relationships #dating #redflags
I’ve been saying this - leave at the first lie. I found out he lied about something at the beginning of our relationship 6 months later and let it go. Then it became lie, after lie, after lie until I found out. LEAVE AT THE FIRST LIE 🥺

same 😔 I found out my ex was still living with his ex, whom he shared a child with, a few months into us meeting.. lol I couldn’t understand how he could spend time with me and then come home to his ex and his child. He conveniently tip toed around that and I only found out through a little detective work after the break up. He only admitted it because I brought it up during a conversation AFTER our break up. It’s scary to know how many other things he likely omitted. so weird…

Thank you so much for this. One of the most important things to learn as one matures is the difference between “private” and “secret.” Private, to me, is simply having space for your own thoughts (not everything needs to be said out loud, even to a partner, especially passing thoughts that may be unkind or hurtful). Private can also mean keeping someone else’s confidence, particularly when the info doesn’t affect your partner - for example, if a close friend or family member discloses something embarrassing that happened to them, in most cases, it isn’t my place to share that info just to satisfy my partner’s curiosity. However, “secret” means intentionally withholding material information about yourself or your history or your behavior, particularly if the information might impact how your partner feels about or relates to you. When you do that, you’re preventing your partner from fully knowing you. (And if you don’t disclose something important because you don’t feel safe - that also says a lot about the health of the relationship.)

I absolutely love that you continue to talk about it. It’s been 3 yrs since my partner cheated (several times) and I stayed. Because of that I feel as though I can’t talk about it at all. Even though parts of it feel like it happened yesterday. I’m still trying to find my way out and your content is helping me soooo much.
