This is actually not as dumb of a question as you think. Somehow all the theaters need to all get the movie by release day, but not too much before or else they risk someone leaking it. That coordination seems monumental.

No the movie theater gets a encrypted hard drive where the movie and the sound data is stored on. To unlock the drive they get a key via a trusted and secured Online Platform. So if the drive gets stolen the thief can not access the Data because of the missing Digital Key.

Google says - they get films delivered as a large files called digital cinema package (DCPs) via high speed internet down loads or physical hard drives. 🤷♀️haha

I use to workat a movie theater for 7 years, before everything became "digital" ,we were delivered rolls of film(s) depending on how long or type of movie their would be 2 to 3 rolls, we would have to "build " the movie ( connecting the film) from roll A to B , it would be then be placed on a platter , then fed into the movie projector, call the best way to imagine is a giant VSH cassette tape . If the Movie was in high demand such as Pirates of the caribbean we would "inner lock" the movies screen, so running the tape from one theater running through one projector then coming out the other end and running through another projector, this would give the movie theater , more screen to show the one movie on multiple screens, and not requiring additional prints and as an employee we had to screen the movie before hand before we could release it, we would check for issues with the film or defects and say a movie has been out for a while and new movies were coming out, we would pack up the film and sent it to a secondary movie theater so that movie can continue playing while the main movie theater got the bigger movies. Now everything is digital and usually means we get all the movies on hard drives to download into the movie theater's main drive and digitally upload it to the movie theater main drive that was in the projection room; depending how long the download was depended on how long the movie is, it would usually take up to 4 hours.

i used to be a projectionist--movies come in reels. the movies were built in theaters. a typical movie is 6-9 reels and they are spliced together into one huge reel. they had VERY interesting names too because they didn't use the real names when shipping.
