I wouldn’t say Ifa is a closed practice, but a SEMI-closed practice. There’s literally so much you can learn before itefa, just in your omo awo stage. Akose, plenty prayers and verses of Ifa, plenty of things in general that are normally taught outside of doing the initiation. Itefa is nothing but you receiving the credentials or certification to utilize what you know on behalf of the world.

The idea of it being closed is a diaspora thing. For us native Yoruba people who are practicing isese, it is open knowledge even before initiation

Truth be told after searching for sooo long about my purpose and path in this life and then getting my first real idafa.. my life has been exponentially better and I can say my marriage to my Nigerian husband is way 🆙 now I have my own direct connect and was told to NOT initiate unless I was given direct permission to do so by my ancestors and getting to know my higher self and head Orisha. Through this I’ve found favor with God/ Eledumare, my whole spirit team including Orumila and Egbe.. man the way they are blessing me and I’m just like wow.. yeah.. the alignment is top tier
