There are many, many issues in the mauritian public healthcare system. But compared to many countries in the region, it is the one of best public healthcare systems. You get a fully free access to many specialists, free surgeries, decent infrastructure, and free medication. Sometimes however you have to pay, indirectly, with long waiting lists.
