@abd_al_wahhabbb: Sheikh Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab (1703–1792) was an Islamic scholar from the region of Najd in the Arabian Peninsula who became one of the most influential and controversial religious figures in Islamic history. He devoted his life to calling Muslims back to what he believed was the pure worship of Allah based on the Qur'an and the authentic Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad. From an early age, he studied Islamic sciences, including Qur'anic interpretation, Hadith, jurisprudence, and theology. During his travels to different regions, he observed practices such as praying to saints, seeking blessings from graves, making vows to the dead, and other customs that he considered incompatible with the principle of Tawhid, the absolute oneness of Allah. He argued that acts of worship should be directed to Allah alone and that any form of devotion offered to anyone besides Him was a serious violation of Islamic monotheism. His teachings emphasized the importance of following the Qur'an and authentic Hadith while avoiding religious innovations that had no basis in the earliest generations of Islam. Sheikh Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab believed that Muslims should understand their religion according to the example of the Prophet Muhammad and his companions, often referred to as the Salaf al-Salih, or the righteous predecessors. His call attracted both supporters and opponents. Some scholars praised his efforts to revive Islamic monotheism and eliminate practices they considered forms of polytheism, while others criticized aspects of his methodology, legal judgments, or the actions of some of his followers. One of the most significant moments in his life was his alliance with Muhammad ibn Saud, the ruler of Diriyah. This partnership combined religious and political authority and eventually led to the establishment of the First Saudi State. Their alliance had a lasting impact on the Arabian Peninsula and influenced the later formation of the modern Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Sheikh Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab wrote several books and treatises, the most famous being Kitab al-Tawhid (The Book of Monotheism), in which he compiled Qur'anic verses and Hadith to explain the importance of worshipping Allah alone and avoiding all forms of shirk. Other works include Kashf al-Shubuhat and Usul al-Thalatha, which continue to be studied in many Islamic institutions today. His writings are generally concise and focus on scriptural evidence rather than lengthy philosophical discussions. His legacy remains the subject of considerable debate among Muslims and historians. Many followers describe him as a reformer who sought to restore the original teachings of Islam by emphasizing strict monotheism and adherence to authentic sources. Critics, however, argue that some interpretations associated with his movement have contributed to religious divisions and disputes within the Muslim world. Modern scholars continue to study his works, historical context, and influence on Islamic thought, politics, and society. Regardless of differing opinions, there is broad agreement that Sheikh Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab played a major role in shaping religious discourse in the Arabian Peninsula and that his ideas have had a lasting influence on Islamic scholarship, reform movements, and discussions about the meaning of Tawhid, religious practice, and the relationship between faith and society. His life and teachings continue to be examined by supporters and critics alike, making him one of the most significant and widely discussed scholars in the history of the Islamic world. #sunni #islam #wahhabi #كربلاء #سعوديه🇸🇦
