As a therapist, please don't use "cry it out" at any age, like ever. Children can only communicate their needs, ignoring them teaches them "my parent won't meet my needs". Their silence is not self soothing, its learning that no matter how loud they call or how desperate they are, no one will help them.

I never understood or believed old people when they said holding baby too much would spoil them. Now I’m old. I still disagree with them. Hold your baby in infancy.

i like that it was handled with firm explanation and understanding versus going to 100. seeing autumn go off on someone is fun but I also like seeing this side of her. A+ job

I remember our doctor saying young babies aren't capable of manipulation so cries are with true purpose.

Cry it out was a method that the regime taught something like 100 years ago in Germany. They explained about strong lungs and willpower but it was about dispupting rhe mother child bond so they'd have an easier time sending sons to war and girls into political marriages.
Let that sink.

The fact that Autumn didn’t berate or threaten her means something and I don’t know what

when people say babies are manipulating because they want attention/to be held, I'm always like ??? yes, I want to hold them too and give them smooches and want them to know that even if he's 30, he can come to his mom to cry and talk about anything. I'm here for them, no matter what.

I wish people were more ready to listen to information when they make mistakes instead of being too terrified of their own egos.
This wasn't insulting. this was just pure facts. and the mother actually listened and if more people could just listen and understand that people are trying to help instead of past judgment on them for making a mistake, we would be able to share information with one another. so much better.

I would love for you to actually make another skit about this to adress that the „Cry it out“ method has not only been scientifically disproven, but was specifically invented by NAZI GERMANY to make children that were less attached to their mothers and get „good little soldiers“ with less empathy. true story!!! most people dont know this - and im sure if more did, this method would be HEAPS more stigmatized (which it SHOULD BE!)

It’s abuse. Period. And it’s been proven to only wreak havoc on their nervous systems and future attachment systems. Letting them cry for a bit so parent can go gather themselves is one thing. Consistently teaching your infant that you will not show up for them is abuse.
