@missy23232: Career and interview tips from a talent executive who spent 20+ years on the other side of the table. Staying positive after interview rejections is hard, but one simple habit can turn every 'no' into useful feedback for your next try. After 20+ years making talent and people decisions at the executive level, I've seen the same mistakes cost great candidates great opportunities. These videos exist so you don't have to learn the hard way. #careertips #careeradvice #professionaldevelopment #workplacetips #jobsearchtips
Solid advice. 5 rejections is nothing these days tho. It’s just that competitive out there.

I completed an interview with the direct supervisor I’d be working under. Great convo, back and forth, she even explained the job schedule all the way down to the lunch schedules and who had children 🤔. She kept complimenting me on everything and said HR will be reaching out 😒 Job was reposted 5 days later, no call or email. I believe I intimidated her 🙄 I’m thankful to already have a position so these ghostings don’t effect me as much but it surely upset me🙄

Just started my week with another rejection. It’s hard to stay positive and energetic. Ageism is alive and well

It’s a super helpful way to continue to refine one’s storytelling, which is a big part of the equation. There’s a nuanced part, which is a bit industry dependent, that because so much of the interview is an audition for the role of colleague-I-can-be-friends-with, that the answers to the questions is where some of us obsess over which can fumble things. If you’re an experienced person, executive or are coming from leadership, and say you’re aiming to work in tech, AI, startups, you can stress over the questions and answers all you want but it may just be you aren’t going to fit in. Fair? No. But I’ve witnessed (and spoken out against this) way too often. If one has the data of 5+ complete hiring processes without an offer, I’d personally lean into authentically answering questions (dropping elements of rehearsal) and consider ways to connect with people to forge camaraderie and find ways to advocate how to make their life better/easier by being hired. The latter can overcome some of the bias inherent in hiring, especially in the tech industry, but also anywhere where one may be more senior in their career then the hiring panel.

I needed this today. I keep hearing “you’re amazing. Your back ground is incredible. Everyone loved meeting you. The directors were really impressed with you. We chose someone else, but if there’s another opening soon we will call you back”.

I keep getting to the third interview then getting the rejection email. The feedback this time was the person they hired was more enthusiastic and they recommended sending a thank you email after the interview. Ok the level of enthusiasm is debatable but when I did in fact send a follow up thank you I’m insulted. I really wanted to send a thank you for not hiring me and helping me dodge yet another bullet. I’m definitely going back through all of your videos which I appreciate. I’m having a really hard time wanting to continue. Why do companies continue to waste our time like it isn’t valuable? The previous experience was again 3 separate interviews with the last one being 3 separate panels of people totaling 3 hrs total to again be rejected. I’m feeling very defeated and tired especially for positions I’d be fortunate to make over $65k at.

Also the worst is when you have a resume with 100% FIT, and you are rejected without even an interview, not having the chance to share your background, achievements, etc. it is frustrating . How to handle it? Thank you!

I don’t get that many interviews because my resume overqualifies me for so many positions. When I do get interviews, I prepare hard for them. I m supposed to wait for a final decision this week after a month of interviewing, keeping fingers crossed

Rejection often test our judgment more than our ability. The challenge is to stay thoughtful enough to learn from it without losing confidence in the value you bring.

It’s difficult out in the experienced professionals world looking for a job right now. This culture of 100s of resumes, multiple rejections, interview after interview then the ghosting. This is an awful environment. Can we admit there aren’t enough jobs to match the number of people looking? It’s beyond competitive, there are so many variables working against qualified job seekers. I’ve applied your suggestions and many others and there seems to be no light 💡.
