As a pashtun, we have always practiced this sunnah, being that when a person passes away, food is brought to them for the next 3 days/ the whole week

I love my culture in Cape Town, because we follow this sunnah when someone dies the grieving family doesn't do anything we come together as a community and even after we make sure of the 3rd night 7th night 40 days and 100 days we have a something we can a thikr evening on behalf of the person who passed 🥰

Muslim South Africans used to do this but somehow this changed where people go to Janaazas and think "free food" In order to change this we need to lead by example.

In Afghan culture, the grieving family does not cook for several days after a death. Instead distant relatives, neighbors, and friends bring prepared meals to support them, sometimes continuing for weeks.

My dad passed away, and at a time when no one had even thought to bring us food, my neighbour went out of her way to cook for us and drove 45 miles with all her children just to be there for us. 🤍 I will never forget her kindness and generosity during one of the hardest moments of our lives. May Allah reward her endlessly, bless her and her children, and grant her all the happiness, love, and blessings she deserves. Ameen. 🤲🏽

In Palestine we do that for 3 days, 3 meals a day (breakfast, lunch, dinner), and all the young women and young men would always help with the cleaning and offering black coffee and dates.
