Major AI data centers coming to New Mexico are overwhelmingly owned by out-of-state companies—not New Mexico businesses. They bring construction jobs and some permanent jobs, but most of the long-term profits go back to corporate headquarters and investors outside our state. The real question isn’t whether data centers are good or bad—it’s whether New Mexico is getting a fair return for our land, water, energy, and tax incentives.
