Not that anyone knew it at the time, but Rickey had a 189 OPS+ to Fielder’s 167. Plus, he played a more demanding defensive position. Rickey deserved that MVP.

And this coming from a Detroit Tiger fan, born and raised Cecil had .261 batting average in 91 and Ripken had .323 not saying its right BUT that made a huge difference imo
