@rosiehharte: Jane Morris was an artist and model for the pre-rahaelites in the 19th century 🍎 Married to the textiles designer William Morris, Jane often modelled for the artist Dante Gabriel Rossetti — with whom she began an affair in the late 1860s. He painted the first image of her as Proserpine in 1874. Jane remained a muse for artists throughout her life. Evelyn de Morgan, who was part of the second wave of pre-raphaelites, often used her as a model for her fantastical illustrations of women’s mythology. This 1905 study is particularly beautiful because it shows Jane as… well, just Jane!
