@_olivialesurfwray: One of the biggest misconceptions about avoidant attachment is that they don't care after a breakup. In reality, the nervous system can automatically protect us from emotional overwhelm. Imagine touching a hot stove 🔥 Sometimes your body pulls your hand away before your brain has even fully registered the pain. Your nervous system acts first to protect you. For some avoidants, heartbreak can work in a similar way. Their nervous system creates distance from painful emotions, so they may seem completely okay at first. Then weeks or even months later, when life slows down and they feel safer, those emotions can finally begin to surface. This doesn't happen for every avoidant, and it doesn't mean they'll come back. But it helps explain why grief isn't always immediate. Your therapist and coach Olivia Lesurf Wray 🌿 #avoidantattachment #attachmenttheory #breakuphealing #relationshippsychology #heartbreakrecovery

the problem when you dealing with an avoidant is one thing but dealing with an avoidant who discards you to cheat and then they try come back.is a different story.
