@thedailysharkhq: Replying to @Michelle Have you ever seen a shark egg that looks like a DNA strand? Meet the Port Jackson shark, a small, bottom-dwelling species found off southern Australia. Instead of giving live birth, females lay spiral-shaped egg cases that wedge into rocky crevices, where the embryos develop for nearly a year before hatching. They're active mostly at night, and may even have an incredible memory that helps them return to familiar breeding grounds. Which shark should I cover next? #portjacksonshark #shark #sharktok #wildlife #marinelife

I’m new to following you. I’m not sure if you’ve already done a dedicated video of great hammerheads but if you haven’t, will you? And if you have, can you link it? Great hammerheads are my favorite.

Please correct me if I’m wrong, but there is another species of shark that also lays eggs+ the eggs look like that. I do believe it was a fresh water shark. It’s been a while since I’ve read into it but I always found that interesting

Do they eat their own egg case for nutrients how geckos eat their eggshells and shedded skin?

...might be hard pressed to find one I have not heard of, but that's because I like writing lists associated with my hyperfixations. Over 600 species and counting. Some glow in the dark (or at least seem to).

Something else really cool about Port Jackson sharks are they have what is called dorsal spine. So if you look at their dorsal fin, you’ll see a white opaque spine that protrude right in front of the dorsal fin. This is a measure of protection for them. They are small shark. They’re not quick. This adds a little extra protection. The family of horned sharks have these spines.
