Wait, what do you mean dermatica has retinol in it but they won’t share the ingredients? Sorry I’m confused. But I use dermatica (azelaic acid) and I am pregnant, it doesn’t have vitamin A in it does it? I’m confused on the ingredients as you said they don’t disclose?

Every time I tried Dermatica I had to stop within two weeks! I followed the instructions exactly - retinoids only twice a week but it was still terrible! It triggered the worst dermatitis for me, and it took around 2.5 months to fully heal 😭 - that’s just my skin though

Hi Natalie, I’m really struggling with my skin and would really appreciate your advice. I constantly get closed comedones, texture and tiny bumps mainly all around my mouth, chin, jawline, sideburn area and a few on my forehead. I’m pretty sure it isn’t fungal acne. The biggest issue is that almost every moisturiser seems to work at first, then starts breaking me out. I’ve tried La Roche-Posay sensitive moisturisers, Purito moisturisers, Geek & Gorgeous Hydration Station (worked for about 7–8 months before I realised it was causing more texture around my mouth), and the e.l.f. Holy Hydration moisturiser (worked for 1–2 months, then did the same). I’ve also had the same experience with Thayers Witch Hazel Rose Petal Toner and the SKIN1004 Centella Ampoule (yellow one) - my skin improved when I stopped them, got worse when I restarted them. I think the Purito Wonder Releaf Centella Serum (green one) might be doing the same, but I’m testing it for a few more weeks. I always give products at least 2–3 weeks (or longer) before deciding if they’re causing issues. I’ve also tried gentle Korean AHA/BHA exfoliating toners once a week. They help the rest of my face but don’t touch the closed comedones around my mouth. At this point I honestly don’t have the money to keep buying moisturisers that end up breaking me out. Do you think I could be reacting to a common ingredient that’s in lots of products? I don’t think it’s my diet or gut health because I eat pretty consistently. I do have a sunscreen that seems okay. Would you just start a retinoid and stick with the Geek & Gorgeous Hydration Station since it’s the moisturiser I’ve tolerated the longest? I’m completely stuck and don’t know what to try next.
