@higherthings: Today, the church remembers the Myrrhbearers: Joanna, Mary, and Salome. The original ending of the Gospel of Mark concludes abruptly with Mary, Joanna, and Salome fleeing Jesus’ tomb after they found it empty. They were seized with trembling, astonishment, and fear, and they initially said nothing to anyone. The church remembers these women for going to the tomb to anoint the body of Jesus with myrrh. Instead, they found that Jesus had risen. For anyone feeling confused, lost, or anxious, there is reassurance in this scene: While Christ is risen from the grave, the women were saved despite their temporary terror before they eventually told the disciples.
