I’ve thought about this deeply, and I want to add something from a psychology and real family experience.. I’ve seen and know women in situations where the man told them he wouldn’t accept their children, yet he expected them to accept his.. And that’s when you realise how common this behaviour actually is.. People don’t abandon their kids because they don’t care, they abandon them because of avoidance, guilt, immaturity, and the belief that someone else will pick up the responsibility.. and, it’s not just men who do this, women do this as well.. Many set strict standards and boundaries for other people’s children, but none for their own.. and here’s the family based reality, when families separate, children are usually with the mother… So some fathers convince themselves that their kids are safe, looked after, and don’t need them… It’s not true, but it’s a very common psychological justification… here’s the truth, and it’s simple… if someone can detach from their own children, they can detach from yours too… That behaviour isn’t selective, it’s a pattern.. and children should never be optional, and anyone, who treats them as optional, is showing you exactly who they are.
You call this disengagement, a pattern of avoidance and displacement, not a one-off behaviour.
