Drilling a well is a nerve-racking experience. You pay by the foot, you don’t know how deep you’ll need to go, and you have no guarantee of how much water you’ll actually get. For us, the first little bit of water came at 200 feet, but it was only around half a gallon to one gallon per minute. Enough for a house, but not enough for the farm vision we had in mind. So we kept going. 300 feet. Nothing. 400 feet. Nothing. 500 feet. Still nothing more. Then came the bill, the well collapsed, and somehow the final outcome ended up better than we ever expected. 4 gallons per minute at 220 feet. Not unlimited water. Not perfect. But enough to move forward. Definitely one of the strangest and most stressful wins we’ve had so far. If you’re drilling a well, research the average depth and yield in your area, and ask your driller every question you can about the process. We were also extremely glad we chose the driller we did; they were amazing. #nyafarms #welldrilling #regenerativefarming #farmlife #offgrid
