My question is, as a child free adult, how do I become part of the village in a place like London (England)? The community is really lacking here. People say they want it, but it's hard to trust someone around your children.

Thank you SO much for posting this. It makes me, a chronically ill mom of 4, feel less like a failure. I don’t have a village for support and genuinely do not have the energy and ability to keep things up - I’m tube fed and rely on IV hydration that I have to administer via my port several times a week to survive. My older two kids help me tremendously, but even still we can’t seem to keep things up because everything in my house needs to be purged and organized. It’s completely overwhelming and adding two toddlers (tornadoes) into the mix just leaves us surviving, when I want my kids to be thriving. So this made me feel way less alone and also reminds me that one day things can take me a lot less time to do when I don’t have to stop 500 times (and I know I’ll miss them being little, but it’s hard sometimes).

I joined the Hot Mess Express in my area. Once a month they go help a mom reset her whole house. This Sat I’ll pick up a few loads of laundry to wash/fold at my house during the week before the next cleaning event.
