It’s not empty because inherently because you’re blocking it out of bounds you’re leaving less time on the shot clock and shots deeper in the shot clock are less efficient

blocked shots that go out of bounds are inherently worth less than blocked shots that stay in bounds. at the time they happen they’re useful, but from the perspective of the play being in the exact same spot as it was before, no progress was accomplished overall.
