Collin Gosselin believed joining the Marines could finally give him the family and sense of belonging he had been searching for. But just weeks before completing his training, the former reality TV star says his dream fell apart after officials learned about his childhood psychiatric treatment. The 22-year-old opened up about the painful experience on Special Forces: World's Toughest Test, revealing how deeply the discharge affected him. Collin explained that he had spent around 10 and a half weeks in training when his past became an issue. According to his account, his mother, Kate Gosselin, had publicly discussed his psychiatric diagnoses in a 2023 social media statement. He claims that information eventually reached military officials. Collin said a Navy doctor informed him that he could not continue training because of his history in a behavioral health facility. For Collin, the decision was devastating. He had hoped military life would give him the stable relationships and brotherhood he felt were missing from his childhood in the spotlight. "My only shot at a family was joining the Marines, literally," he said on the show. In his new memoir, In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood, Collin also blames his mother for contributing to the circumstances surrounding his discharge. Kate has denied allegations of mistreatment and has previously said that placing Collin in a treatment facility was necessary for his well-being and the safety of the family. She has not directly addressed his specific claim about the military discharge. Collin's account highlights how deeply childhood experiences can shape a person's search for belonging, even years later. Sometimes, the hardest setback is losing the future you believed would finally give you a place to belong. Do you think people deserve a second chance to pursue their dreams after a painful setback? \#CollinGosselin #KateGosselin #SpecialForces #CelebrityNews #personalstruggles
