Sometimes it works, sometimes it’s a shitshow. But it usually sells tickets which keeps a heap of people employed. Sometimes it’s really annoying when I want tickets.

I personally don’t mind celebrities being in shows, as long as they fit the part and can bring the energy I don’t see why not as there is plenty celebrities that trained in musical theatre or acting or something along that line. The thing I disagree with is the principal of people getting refunds if celebrities don’t appear in the show or newspapers getting involved stating “so and so didn’t appear leaving fans in uproar” when I get it if you book for a specific person you want to see it can be upsetting but I’ve seen some swings and covers who have completely made me look at shows in other ways and have brought new energy and given the most incredible performances and they should be treated with equal love and equal respect you would give a celeb. They have worked just as hard (some harder) to be where they are and they deserve the love you would show the lead ❤️

I do not mind a celebrity being in it if they have a genuine talent, but sadly I've seen a few shows with celebrity casting where the rest of the cast had to carry them. It's not fair for the incredibly talented theatre performers who miss out to people who only got the job because of who they are 🤷🏼♀️

One Show More :
Jojo as Lola was beautiful, seeing his journey from the start of tour to end of london was amazing! He was perfect for the role. A lot of shows I went to were filled with Johannes fans which I hope they fell in love with theatre because of him and all you amazing angels ;) imo a lot of the names are very good, like he’s a trained dancer which means he has great performing ability already

I am in the minority because I am really not a fan and generally would avoid a show. KB is my all time fav show (our cats are lola and charlie) but I felt the show was all about Johanes and not the story. its a shame coz its a great show. I would have preferred to go when the alternate was on lol

the thing is it seems to be that more and more "celebs" are emerging from the theatre/ musical theatre world which of course can only be a good thing. Of course if I go to a show and really want to see a certain performer and the alternate/cover is on I am a little disappointed. But I also personally LOVE to see alternates etc as a chance for them to have their time to shine. When I worked in a large regional theatre someone said to me that if the "stars" name is below the title of show then it's the show you have paid for and not entitled to refund if they don't appear for what ever reason. if other way around and "stars" name is above show title there may be more of a argument for some sort of compensation. As long as its a celeb with talent for theatre. Then im ok with that and frankly as someone who loved House of Jo jo he was always theatre ready.
