Fremont High School in South Central LA has the greatest number of their baseball players turn pro with 25. I played in the early 90’s and Eric Davis went a couple of times and practiced with us. Great guy!!!

I notice a lot of talk about gangs in this thread. Sadly that is one thing that was the downfall of a lot of Black kids not playing a sport like Baseball in South Central L.A. I coached a little league team in South Central in the late 1980s. we had some kids who were afraid to play because of gang member harassing the in parks like Harvard Park and Van Ness Park.
Gangs took over ths parks and hoods driving families with kids as Cecil just said of his family from the Hood. It brought an end to the dominance of sports like Basketball and Football in the inner city of Los Angeles also. So its not cool.

LAUSD had its shine during the 70s and 80s. You can look at the stat leaders in any year during this era and you can find a handful of names that went to a Los Angeles school. From the Valley to the South Bay, Westside to south central names just come out. Ozzie Smith, saberhagen, yount, Chris Brown and so many more. The private schools and other districts have taken them away nowadays but there was and is a lot talent that comes out of the LA area.
