@user9768312804712: sadly, I was raised by well not really raised emotionally neglected a woman who had severe postpartum depression who could not or did not want to bond with me until I was almost 8 months old. This was the 1960s and it was kept a secret for me until I was in my 20s and I discovered it in therapy wondering on My Life why my mother was so emotionally unavailable. There are some people who just do not need to have kids who never should become mothers -

I don’t know I’ve never felt ashamed for my mental health issues nor have I ever been afraid to seek help and say that things out loud for that help so I can’t understand anyone choosing the risk of harming their children, over the neighbours looking at you funny because you admitted the truth out loud got help and ultimately saved them
